By council by-laws, Gilmour knights are elected for two consecutive terms and are then ineligible for one year. Board members serve through the September board meeting of the year posted. Non-elected members are ex-officio.
In 2020, a new KofC Supreme policy required that local councils that managed corporations that owned halls sign an agreement. It stipulated that, if such corporations sold their hall, they (1) would have 3 years to purchase or construct another hall or (2) they would liquidate their assets and transfer all monies to the parent council. Since Gilmour, Inc. did not purchase a building since its sale of the Sherwin-Gilmour Party Center in March, 2021, the corporation must transfer all its funds to the Gilmour Council and shut down the corporate entity by March 31, 2024. That deadline will not be met, as there are unresolved IRS issues, including a tax federal refund pending to Gilmour, Inc.
In 2023 the corporation constructed a storage building on the grounds of St Paschal Baylon parish, and the balance of the corporation’s assets have been liquidated. The expectation is that all funds will be transferred by the end of Gilmour, Inc.’s current fiscal year, August 31, 2024.
By council vote on 23 July 2023, the terms of all directors have been extended until the corporation transfers its funds to Gilmour Council #310 and is closed.
