We hope is doing as well as can be expected during this crazy year. As you know by now, we have cancelled all of our meetings and Christmas parties due to the COVID pandemic. Please be as careful as you can and enjoy the Christmas Season the best you can and we look forward to a much better 2021.

HOLIDAY PIE SALE.

NIGHTLY ROSARY.

We are still holding a nightly ZOOM rosary with Dr. Bob Hostoffer at 8:00 PM. Everyone is welcome and it usually lasts about 20 minutes. We just started opening the rosary with a couple minutes of personal intentions before recitation of the rosary. GOOD OF THE ORDER.

Unfortunately, we lost a very active and loyal member this past week. Fillipo Pagano, a 48 year member passed away after a long illness. We were able to hold a wake service to offer our condolences to him and his family. We also have some brothers in need of your prayers due to COVID and other ailments. They include: Br. Chuck Bonacci, Sr. and his wife Florence (Flo); Br. Frank DeFlorio and Eugene Biagio, the father of Br. Biagio Pistone. Please keep them and anyone else who is suffering from any physical or emotional impairment as a result of this pandemic, also all of our frontline workers & first responders for putting themselves at risk. Stay safe.

NOVEMBER  2020  NEWSLETTER

Hope everyone is still doing well. We are planning most of our usual holiday activities, but everything is subject to the progress of the pandemic and whether things get shutdown again. Hopefully, everything stays open and we are able to go ahead with some or all of our holiday plans.

TURKEY GIVEAWAY.

The City of Lyndhurst is planning on holding their annual Turkey Giveaway again this year on November 12th at the BP station at Mayfield & Brainard. The city has asked the Knights to help out with the distribution starting with set up about 7:45 AM and handing the turkeys out as specified people drive through to pick them up. We should be finished by Noon. Please try and help out if you can.

MEMORIAL MASS.

We are planning our annual Memorial Mass, for our brother knights who passed away during the past year, on Tuesday, Nov. 24th, at 7:30 PM in our Gilmour Hall. This was a very good year as we only lost 5 brothers that we know of. Please let your families know to contact the Council if anything happens, so we can pay our respects. The 5 brothers we lost include: Pasquale "Pat" DeFranco; SK Fred Finomore; Frank LaPuma; Charles "Chuck" Lentini and Rick Rakovan. Please plan on attending to honor our brothers and their families.

CHRISTMAS DINNER.

We are planning on holding a Christmas dinner on Sunday, Dec. 13th. Due to the COVID restrictions, this will NOT be a family party as the past few years, this will be for adults only and a maximum of about 100 people. Make your reservations early as this will be "1st come/ 1st served" for reservations up to our COVID maximum. As in past years will be rebating each brother knight $25 at the door, with their paid reservation. Doors will open at 5 PM with dinner around 6 PM, the cost will be $25 per person, make your reservations on www.kofc310.org., or with GK Shaun White at 440-473-9574.

BELATED CONGRATULATIONS.

We want to extend belated congratulations to 2 "young" couples who celebrated their anniversaries last month, but we did not find out in time to mention it in the last newsletter. The first couple just getting their feet wet are Chuck & Florence Bonacci who celebrated 50 years of bliss on Oct.17th. They still have a way to go to catch up with the second couple, James & Antoinette Malatesta who celebrated their 73rd anniversary on Oct. 2nd. Congratulations to both couples and wishing you many more.

Due to COVID, we did not have the selection we had hoped for, but check out what is available to order and pay for on the website and arrange for pick-up or delivery, if available. MEASURE-UP CAMPAIGN

We want to thank all the brother Knights who helped out with the collections at St. Francis and St. Clare over the last couple weeks. You should have received an email regarding the collection at St. Paschal's this coming weekend, so you have one more chance to donate a little time, if you can, to help cover their multiple doors. Even with this crazy year, people are still being generous for "God's Special Children".

FATIMA ROSARY

We are still planning on having our Fatima Rosary recitation on Saturday, Oct. 10th, at Noon at the LYNDHURST gazebo behind City Hall. This is open to anyone and should take less than an hour. There will be NO 4th Degree turnout, so just wear your Council shirts and/or hats.

We are trying something different this year to try and raise some money, a Holiday Pie Sale. It will be run through our website, www.KofC310.org, where you can see, order, pay and arrange delivery of 1 or more pies for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. HELP NEEDED

We are trying to keep in touch with our current members and families of deceased members who do NOT have access to email. Since the Chapter stopped publishing the Recorder, we have lost contact with a number of long time Knights and their families. If you know any of these people and an easy way to contact them, let Bro. Benny Capretta know at 216-396-0222.

NIGHTLY ROSARY

We are still holding our nightly ZOOM rosary at 8 PM. Our Culture of Life Chairman, Dr. Bob Hostoffer, does a nice job leading the prayers for everyone's health and safety through this pandemic. It usually lasts about 20 minutes; everyone is welcome and it is a nice way to end your day. You can contact Dr. Bob or GK Shaun to get the link to the site. MEMORIAL MASS As of now, we are planning on having our annual Memorial Mass for our deceased brother Knights from the past year. We will have more information next month as to whether it will be the first or second meeting in November.

SEPTEMBER  2020  NEWSLETTER

Welcome to Fall 2020!  To say it has been an unusual year, would be a huge understatement.  Most of our activities have been cancelled or postponed, but at least we have been able to meet somewhat regularly, please attend when you can.

GILMOUR  BOARD  ELECTIONS

On August 11th, we had our final round of nominations and subsequent elections. We HAD 4 nominees.  The 3 newly elected Board members are Benny Capretta, Robert Dew and Domenic Fragomeni.  Welcome aboard and remember to mark off the 3rd Wednesday of every month for the next 3 years. We want to thank PGK Ted Orel and PGK George Rolfe for their years of service to the Gilmour Inc. Board.

MEASURE -  UP  CAMPAIGN

Even though it is 5 months later than usual, we are still trying to hold our annual "Measure-Up" campaign on the weekends of Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27.  We are waiting to hear from our parishes as to if and when we can try and collect and still remain socially distant while doing it.  We will keep you posted.

COLUMBUS  DAY  DINNER

The Greater Cleveland Chapter is holding their annual Columbus Day Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 11th, at the Garfield Hts. Council hall.  One of the honorees will be our GK Shaun White as the outgoing President of the Chapter.  Tickets are $25 per person, if you are interested, call GK White at 440-473-9574.

FATIMA  ROSARY

We are planning on holding a rosary rally in honor of the miracle of Fatima on Saturday, Oct. 10th.  We are not sure of the location yet, it will either be at the Mayfield Village or Lyndhurst gazebo at Noon, we will let you know next month.

MEMBERSHIP

We want to welcome 2 new members, who both joined during the summer via the internet Degree process.  They are Alan Cunningham from Holy Redeemer and Martin McHenry from Gesu, please make them feel at home.  

The Council's new combined Degree team has been rehearsing so we can hold our own ceremony soon to officially induct them into the Council and move up any other members who have not attained their 3rd Degree yet.

ATTENDANCE  PRIZE

We finally had a winner for our attendance prize, Bro. Domenic Fragomeni was in the right place at the right time to claim the prize after more than a year. So now the prize resets and it will be $30 at the next meeting.  You must be there to win!!

GOOD  OF  THE  ORDER

On a happy note, we want to extend congratulations to PGK Ted & Lady Alicia Orel on their 73rd anniversary at the end of the month.  Wishing you all the best!

On a sad note, we lost another long time member last month.  Bro. Pasquale "Pat" DeFranco passed away on Aug. 2nd at the age of 97.  He originally joined in 1941. and his brother, Tony, is still a member also.

AUGUST 2020 NEWSLETTER

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during these trying times. Due to COVID most of our activities have been cancelled or postponed, so please bear with us as we try to keep things scheduled and you informed. We want to congratulate and thank Bro. Matt Margevicius for stepping up to take the vacant Recording Secretary position, so now we have a full slate of officers to lead us through the 2020 - 2021 fraternal year. Please come and join us at a meeting when you can as the attendance prize is still growing and currently over $200.

GILMOUR BOARD NOMINATIONS.

We have held the first & second rounds of nominations for the Gilmour Inc. Board of Directors. Every year we have 3 - 3 year terms up for grabs. So far we have had several brothers nominated, they include: Benny Capretta; Robert Dew; Kraig Hoffmann and Norman Klein who originally accepted, but has since recused himself. The final round of nominations and elections, if necessary, will occur at our next regular meeting on Aug. 11th, plan on attending.

SPECIAL EDUCATION MASS

As of now, we are still planning on holding the annual Special Education Mass & Breakfast at the Lourdes' Shrine in Euclid. We are planning on attending the 9:30 AM Mass at the Shrine on Aug. 30th with breakfast to follow in the cafeteria for those who wish to stay. We will NOT have a 4th Degree turnout as in the past, so we request everyone to wear their council shirts (red, white or blue) so we look good as we march in. If things change, we will let you know.

FOUNDERS’ COMMITTEE

In honor of Fr. Michael McGivney's dream for the Knights of Columbus, our co-membership chairman, Benny Capretta, is trying to put together a committee of brother knights to re-connect with the widows and/or families of our deceased brother Knights. The purpose is just to touch base with them, let them know we still think of them and invite them to any of our family events that they might like to attend. If you are interested in helping on this committee or know how to contact any of these family members, please give Benny a call at 216-396-0222.

NIGHTLY ROSARY

Our Culture-of-Life Chairman, Dr. Bob Hostoffer, leads a rosary every night at 8 PM on ZOOM to pray for everyone's health & safety during this pandemic. You should have received the link from GK Shaun or you can give him a call to re-send it. THE ROSARY usually takes less than 20 minutes, but it is a nice way to end the day. Hope to "virtually" see you there soon.

GOOD OF THE ORDER

We want to send our congratulations out to Bro. Zach Hostoffer and his new wife, Katie. They were recently married in Kentucky. Dr. Bob, the proud father of the groom, still managed to hold the rosary from Kentucky. We have been very lucky lately, but we just learned of the loss of one of our longtime members. Bro. Frank LaPuma passed away on Saturday, July 25th, at the VA hospital. He originally joined the Knights in 1948 and was as active as he could be over the years. Please keep him in your prayers.

JULY 2020 NEWSLETTER

We hope everyone is staying healthy and trying to enjoy the nice weather we have been experiencing. We have been able to hold a few "live" meetings, with masks and social distancing. So if you are well enough,

plan on coming to our next meeting on July 14th.

2020 - 2021 COUNCIL OFFICERS We held our final round of nominations and elections on June 9th. We had a few surprises and 1 hiccup that had to be filled on the night of the installation, but in this unusual year, what else can you expect. We did have our installation on June 23rd, so we want to extend our thanks to Rev. Stan Klasinski, for acting as our Chaplain, and District Deputy John Mohorcic, PGK for taking time away from his very pregnant wife to perform the ceremony. We wish all our new & continuing officers all the best for the coming year. They include:

GILMOUR BOARD ELECTIONS

Now that the Council elections are finished, it is time for the Gilmour Board of Directors elections. We elect 3 members each year for 3 year terms. Coming off the Board this year are Benny Capretta, Ted Orel, PGK and George Rolfe, PGK.

Only George Rolfe cannot run this year by rule. We will have nominations on July 14th & 28th with the final nominations & elections on Aug. 11th. As usual, any 3rd Degree knight in good standing is eligible to be nominated.

URGENT BLOOD NEED

Anyone who is able to donate blood should try and donate, Due to the current COVID situation, there is an urgent need for blood and a shortage of locations for collections. That is why St. Francis of Assisi is holding another drive on Monday, July 6th, from 10 AM to 3 PM. They just had one a couple weeks ago, but the need is great. Please consider it, if you are able.

RAINBOW CAMP

The Greater Cleveland Chapter's annual "Rainbow Camp" at St. Augustine has been pushed back a week to July 17th. It is not going to be as big and elaborate as in the past, but they are trying to have something for the kids in this unusual year. They are still working out the details, but it will still involve grilling lunch items and serving the kids. We will keep you updated at our meetings.

It was great to see GK Shaun at our installation, he still has a way to go to get his strength back, but at least he is home where Lady Clarice can take care of him.
